An Austin-bound package has exploded at a FedEx facility in Schertz, Texas, injuring a FedEx employee.
CBS News reports that the package bomb exploded at the distribution center outside of San Antonio shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the FBI are investigating the incident, which reportedly took place when 75 FedEx employees were present at the facility. The injured employee reportedly suffered minor “percussion-type” injuries, and is expected to recover.
The explosion comes amid increasing fears of a serial bomber in Austin, after four separate explosions killed an adult male and a 17-year-old boy. Four people have been injured in the incidents.
According to CBS News, investigators are working to determine of Tuesday morning’s explosion is connecting to the previous bombings.
This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide updates when more information is available.
