Authorities have identified the woman found dismembered in a Brooklyn, New York, park on Monday.
The New York Daily News reports that police have identified the presumably murdered woman as Brandy Odom, 26, who lived directly across the street from Canarsie Park, where a dog-walker first spotted her torso and head on Monday.
Responding investigators found additional body parts, scattered in plastic bags throughout the park. Police are continuing to search for additional remains.
A neighbor of the victim’s told the Daily News that several children and a middle-aged woman were escorted by police from Odom’s apartment on Tuesday night.
A cause of death has not been determined. Police sources told the Daily News that the woman’s arms had been cut off at the elbows, and her legs were severed just below her buttocks.
Odom did not have a criminal history outside of a single arrest in 2012. The details of the arrest are not known.
Investigators are reportedly tracking Odom’s activities prior to her death in order to help identify possible suspects.
CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
