The man who killed the granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman while high on drugs was found guilty of manslaughter, not murder.
TMZ reports that Lamar Davenport was acquitted of second-degree murder for the 2015 killing of E’Dena Hines outside the couple’s apartment in New York City. At the time of the slaughter, Davenport was reportedly high on PCP, his lawyers argued.
Davenport reportedly stabbed Hines 25 times while screaming, “I love you. I always loved you. God would have wanted this.”
The killer was reportedly placed on psychiatric hold following his arrest. As CrimeOnline previously reported, Hines, 33, recorded video of Davenport appearing to be high on PCP and delusional just hours before the brutal killing.
The judge reportedly sided with the defense attorneys and handed down a manslaughter sentence. Davenport now faces up to 25 years in prison.
