A California father was reportedly shot and killed in front of his twin daughters Saturday night as he took out the garbage.

According to KXTV, father-of-three Roy Eunice, 42, was shot in the chest in front of his Sacramento home. Hours earlier, Eunice was celebrating his daughters’ 10th birthdays—the birthday cake was on the table when the California father was shot.

“He collapsed to the ground and died in front of [them],” Eunice’s sister Mary Thompson said.

A second bullet pierced through a screen door while another went through two walls before landing in his daughters’ bedroom, the news station reported.

“He walked in his house, told his 10-year-old daughters that he’s been shot,” Thompson told WXTL. “‘Call your mom. Call 911.’ He collapsed in front of his daughters and died.”

The Sacramento Bee reported that police haven’t located a suspect in Saturday’s fatal shooting. Homicide detectives are urging anyone with information regarding Roy Eunice’s murder to call the Sacramento Police Department’s at 916-264-5471.
