Authorities in Las Vegas have released harrowing video of the moments Stephen Paddock was firing down at a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on October 1.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal and The Guardian obtained surveillance video images that were captured from cameras on a street corner close to the Route 91 Harvest Festival concert area and on the roof of the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
The footage shows people ducking for cover as Paddock fires down from his suite on the 32nd floor of the hotel, and fleeing the scene en masse. In a particularly disturbing images taken from the hotel roof camera, crowds can be seeing rushing away for the exits as some others remain on the ground. In several cases, fleeing concertgoers can be seen stopping to aid people who may be injured.
The mass shooting killed 58 people and injured hundreds more. Stephen Paddock fatally shot himself as police were breaching his hotel suite.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been releasing investigative documents, including audio and video files, on a weekly, rolling basis in response to a court order from a judge who sided with several media outlets suing the police department for the documents.
