An Ohio woman who solicited a hitman to kill her stepdaughters’ mother spend five years behind bars for the failed murder-for-hire plot.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Tara Arbogast, formerly known as Tara Lambert, ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated murder. Arbogast, 35, was caught on camera in July 2015 offering a hitman a $125 downpayment to kill Kimberly Cooke, her then-husband’s ex-wife.

The aspiring ex-model constructed the murder-for-hire plot as her then-husband and Cooke were mired in a court battle over visitation regarding their two teen daughters. The Dispatch reported that Arbogast met an undercover officer in a KFC parking lot and revealed that she wanted Cooke dead.
“I need her away. Gone,” a hidden camera inside the officer’s vehicle caught Arbogast saying.
“Just put her in a chopper, you know like one of those lumberjack chopper things.”
Arbogast received 16 months off her five-year sentence for the time she served following a January 2016 conviction. The conviction was ultimately overturned due to a written error in the initial charges that resulted in a seven-year sentence.
“I never intended for this situation to get so out of control,” Arbogast told Cooke during her 2016 trial, according to WSYX.
The Ohio woman was ordered to turn herself in on July 30 to start her prison sentence.
