Police in New York are searching for a man who allegedly smacked his toddler on a subway train and pulled a knife on a bystander who tried to step in.
According to the New York Daily News, the incident occurred June 24 on a Manhattan E train. Police released part of the recorded exchange Sunday, hoping to encourage someone to come forward with information regarding the unknown father’s identity.
In the video, a 45-year-old man is heard telling the father to leave the child alone after the father allegedly smacked them. WPIX reported that situation escalates when the father appears to brandishe a knife and point it at the man, who is with his young daughter at the time.
“Ain’t nobody telling s**t to me! It’s my kid, n***a! Worry about your own kid, n***a,” the father can be heard saying.
Cameras caught the father swinging the knife back and forth during the heated ordeal. At one point, the father told the little girl, “Your daddy will get killed on this train,” according to police.
After pushing the stroller onto the platform, the father continued to yell at the rider as the doors repeatedly closed on him. The father also spat at the man during the ordeal, according to WPIX.
“He needs help,” the victim’s wife told the news station, referring to the man that nearly attacked her husband. “The baby needs help.”
Police believe the man seen in the video is in his 20s. Anyone with information regarding the June 24 incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 (TIPS).
