Authorities in Georgia say a 34-year-old man turned himself in at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly killed a woman during an altercation last month.
According to the New York Post, Jason Leroy Brown was taken into custody on Wednesday after he surrendered in connection with the brutal beating death of 24-year-old Taylor Bins in Stone Mountain on July 24.
Investigators say the deadly attack was sparked over an argument about a watch.
Local reports cite a witness’ statement to police, which indicated Brown had been looking to confront Bins over the disagreement, though further details were not available in an initial statement.
It was also unclear from available reports what type of relationship the suspect and alleged victim were believed to have had.
A warrant described the crime as “family violence.”
Brown allegedly dragged Bins down a flight of stairs and into the street nearby. Reports indicate the victim appeared to have had a seizure during the incident.
The suspect also beat the woman brutally in the head and torso, according to detectives.
Brown was arrested and transported to DeKalb County Jail. He was booked into jail without bond, according to court records.
He is expected to face charges including felony murder.
