Authorities in Texas say a couple is recovering from injuries after a brutal attempted robbery caught on video earlier this week.
According to Fox News, the female victim exited her vehicle Friday to enter a Houston-area business. Her husband was already inside.
Reports indicate the victims appeared to own the business. The woman is said to have had $75,000 in cash in her purse at the time, which officials say was for business-related purposes.
Investigators believe the suspects followed her to the location of the attack. The surveillance video footage reveals a vicious attack on the woman by one of the men. Her husband soon exited to help defend her.
The scuffle continued as a vehicle drove around and stopped before another suspect emerged.
“That’s the individual that we got some pretty good quality video of,” revealed Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.
The female victim maintained possession of her purse throughout the ordeal and reports indicate a deputy arrived on the scene a short time later to arrest 31-year-old Davis Dowell Mitchell on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
Herman said that “some other citizens … did also come to the aid of the victim.”
Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries. The man was treated for minor wounds by emergency personnel at the scene. His wife was transported to an area hospital.
As for the other man seen in the video, authorities are hoping tips from the public will help them identify and apprehend a suspect.
Anyone with information related to the crime is urged to contact the constable’s office or call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-8477.
