Police in New York are investigating after a driver in Brooklyn allegedly pistol-whipped and tried to rape a woman who got into his vehicle, mistakenly thinking it was her livery car.
According to the New York Daily News, the 39-year-old woman hopped into the back seat of a car parked in front of El Gran Mar de Plata at 5 a.m. on August 6. The driver reportedly drove a block away to Atlantic Avenue before hopping into the back seat, brandishing a gun, and allegedly battering the woman.
The woman reportedly managed to fight off the driver as he attempted to rape her. The driver then drove to another location and kicked the woman out of the car, according to the newspaper.
PIX11 reported that the woman was hospitalized for bruising to the face and torso.
Authorities are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver, who remains at large weeks after the attack.
According to the New York Post, the suspect was described as a man in his 20’s, with a thin build, and wearing a baseball cap, white T-shirt, and jeans.
