Authorities in Texas have released footage they say shows a high-speed police chase from June that endangered countless lives — including a young child the suspect was carrying.
According to Fox News, a female motorist who has not been publicly identified began by leading police in a pursuit that resulted in a crash.
From there, the woman allegedly carried the baby as she forcibly commandeered a truck and took off at a high rate of speed.
The resulting chase hit speeds near 100 mph on several occasions and included the woman swerving into oncoming traffic lanes. It ended shortly after police deployed a device that deflated the stolen vehicles tires.
She soon hit another vehicle at a nearby intersection, but exited that vehicle — again with the child in her hands — and attempted to flee on foot.
Investigators say she then entered yet another vehicle and believe she was also attempting another carjacking.
One Texas Department of Safety trooper was able to position his vehicle to block the woman’s escape, though, and trained his gun on her. Another trooper responded to the child.
According to police reports, the woman was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance.
