A California teen might have been one of several victims targeted by a man found naked inside of a Fontana home late last month, according to police.
According to KABC, 21-year-old Jonathan Ward was arrested on suspicion of breaking into the home early on the morning of Aug. 30.
Police responded to the location after receiving a complaint from inside the home that a man had walked into the 13-year-old girl’s room as she slept. When responding officers arrived, the intruder had already left;
The victim woke to find the naked man masturbating as he stood over her, police say.
Along with the police report, authorities released surveillance footage from inside the residence.
Upon reviewing the video, police say the suspect at one point looked directly into the camera and placed a finger over his lips, apparently calling on the viewer to remain silent.
After conducting an investigation, police identified Ward as the suspect and arrested him a short time later at his home.
As of the latest reports available, investigators had not ruled out the possibility that there could be other victims in the region. The mother of another young girl in the community said she believed he tried to enter her home.
“He admitted that he came to my residence on several occasions and he was looking through our windows,” she said. “He attempted entry into my home, but I have a dog inside and my doors are always maintained locked, so he never made it inside, but he did peek through the windows somewhere around 2 o’clock in the morning, which is right around the same time the other crime was committed.”
Police believe he targeted victims by following social media profiles to determine where girls lived.
He was booked into jail with a bond enhancement of $1 million based on a similar previous arrest.
