Authorities in Texas say a former high school teacher carried out a sexual relationship with an underage student, including one episode in a classroom on campus.
According to KTRK, 28-year-old Kirstin Pike was a teacher and coach at Dickinson High School in September 2016 when she allegedly engaged in illegal conduct with the 15-year-old boy.
In his statement to investigators, the student reportedly described having sex with the teacher in a classroom, an account he said he also shared with four of his friends.
She worked for the school until June of this year, as reported by the New York Post.
Following her arrest on Friday, the school district released a statement acknowledging the allegations.
“A former Dickinson High School female teacher turned herself in to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Sep. 7 for allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with a student in 2016,” the Dickinson Independent School District wrote.
According to school officials, they were “just made aware of the allegations earlier this month” and notified the proper authorities with the details.
“The district immediately forwarded the information to to CPS and law enforcement and is cooperating with authorities in the investigation,” the statement concluded.
The suspect remained behind bars until she was released on bond earlier this week. Reports indicate Pike is expected to face charges including improper relationship between an educator and a student.
She is set to appear in court again next month.
