An elderly Florida man is facing criminal charges for allegedly offering a mother $200,000 for her 8-year-old daughter before kissing the child.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Hellmuth Kolb, 81, was charged with false imprisonment of a child under the age of 13 and battery in connection with the incident which occurred at a Port Orange Walmart on Friday. A police report indicated that he asked Tracy Nigh for her daughter three times before grabbing her by her arm and kissing her wrist.
“The first amount was $100,000, the second amount was $150,000 and then the final amount was $200,000,” she told WKMG. “I then said, ‘No we have to go.’”
The mother took to Facebook to say they plan to press charges. WESH reported that Kolb fled after the encounter but was taken into custody the following day. Police said they’ve learned of similar incidents in Port Orange and Daytona Beach and are investigating to determine whether they involved Kolb.
The 81-year-old is currently being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.
