An experienced skydiver died on Sunday when her parachute failed to open during a jump.
NBC News reports that the female skydiver, who has yet to be identified, was killed during an attempted jump at Lodi Parachute Center in Lodi, California.
The woman appears to have been a skilled skydiver, having successfully executed over 2,500 parachute jumps, according to KRCA.
Also according to KRCA, 15 people died during jumps at Lodi Parachute Center between 1999 and 2017. NBC News reports that the FBI had searched the facility earlier this year, but it was unclear why.
Federal Aviation Administration Communications Manager Ian Gregor reportedly told NBC news that the FAA would investigate the death, while noting that the skydiver had used her own parachute, and FAA investigations are typically limited to determining if a parachute was properly packed before the jump.
This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates once more information is available.
