A substitute teacher at a Louisana high school was arrested Monday for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student who recorded the illicit encounter on his cell phone.
In a news release obtained by the Opelousas Daily World, Port Barre Police Department claimed school administrators at Port Barre High School alerted them to the inappropriate relationship between the teen student and Constance Robertson, 25. Police reportedly inspected the victim’s phone while executing a search warrant and recovered enough evidence to charge the educator with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
KATC reported that the illicit encounter occurred in a classroom on a pep rally day. The boy reportedly showed the footage to friends and it eventually made its way to school administrators who immediately called law enforcement.
Port Barre Police Chief Deon Boudreaux told the news station that Robertson claimed she thought the victim was 18.
A statement issued by the St. Landry Parish School System indicated that Robertson’s been working in the district since May 2017. Officials said she’s no longer employed by the school district in light of her arrest.
They said, “We are currently working with law enforcement as it pertains to this incident and are unable to comment further as this is a personnel matter and is under investigation.”
