Authorities in Maine say officers arrested a woman found undressed from the waist down in the roadway of a residential neighborhood.
According to WGME, 25-year-old Lauren Gelinas was supposed to be babysitting when she allegedly got drunk and ran out partially clothed into the road.
Police reports indicate she left two children under the age of 5 at a home on the same street during the disturbance.
Bangor police officers responded to the report on Tuesday and say they found the children in distress under unsafe circumstances at the residence on Ohio Street.
One of the children was reportedly inconsolable and covered in vomit while the other was sleeping.
According to WABI, one of the children complained to officers of being kicked by the suspect.
Reports indicate representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services also responded to the call.
Gelinas was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two criminal counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
As the New York Post reported, Gelinas was emotional when she appeared in court the following day to plead not guilty to the charges against her.
She reportedly told officers after her arrest that she had been drinking vodka prior to walking out and into the street.
Court records indicate she was booked into jail with bail set at $500. She is set to appear in court again in December.
