An upstate New York woman was fatally shot when the gun her husband was cleaning accidentally discharged.
The New York Post reports that 34-year-old Ashley Rosenbrock was shot in her Corinth home on Thursday night when her husband, 35-year-old Eric Rosenbrock was handling his legally owned firearm.
New York state police told the newspaper that Eric Rosenbrock was “performing maintenance” on a handgun when the weapon accidentally discharged. Ashley was later pronounced dead at Saratoga Hospital.
No charges have been filed, and an investigation is ongoing.
According to the Post-Star of Glenn Falls, this is not the first time tragedy struck the married couple. Five years ago, their 18-month-old daughter reportedly died of an infection.
The newspaper reports that the couple has three other young children.
A state police news release obtained by the Post-Star stated that the conclusions of a medical examination were “consistent with the information and evidence that has been discovered to this point in the investigation.”
Eric Rosenbrock, a science teacher in the Lake George school district, has reportedly been cooperating with investigators.
