2 dead, 2 seriously injured after shooting outside of Papa John’s: Cops

Authorities in Florida say two men were killed and two others injured Saturday night in a shootout near a restaurant in Orange County.

According to WKMG, officers responded to the scene near West Oak Ridge Road and South Orange Blossom Trail.

As WDRB reported, officers responded to the southwest Orlando restaurant shortly after 8 p.m.

Upon arrival, they reportedly found a man dead near a car parked behind a Papa John’s location. Police say he was shot “several times.”

Another shooting victim entered the restaurant to seek help.

Police say he was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Reports indicate two other men were also injured in the violent altercation. One was taken to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

It was unclear from available reports what the other man’s condition was.

Authorities say both men sustained “serious injuries.”

A suspect in the case reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle heading south on Orange Blossom Trail until it crashed in a nearby intersection. Reports indicate authorities were able to identify the silver Hyundai Elantra by witness descriptions.

The car reportedly continued north on Orange Avenue before the driver was apprehended by police.

As of the latest reports available, he was still in custody on suspicion of fleeing from police. He is expected to also face charges related to the shooting.

Police did not initially report a suspected motive for the crime.
