A Florida woman with an apparent case of thunderous flatulence was arrested Sunday after she allegedly brandished a knife on a man who confronted her about an unpleasant emission while at a Dollar General store.
Authorities arrested 37-year-old Shanetta Wilson “for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” following the alleged incident, ABC 13 reports.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office affidavit obtained by the Miami Herald, the suspect was shopping at a Dollar General store, located on Federal Highway in Dania Beach, when a man, identified as John Walker, heard the woman pass gas while waiting to check out at the store.
After reportedly confronting Wilson about it, an argument then ensued “in reference to the defendant farting loudly,” the document said, according to the newspaper. Police said Wilson then wielded a knife and threatened Walker.
Officials said the suspect took out a “lock back knife” from a bag before she “opened the knife and said she would ‘gut’ Walker,” the police report stated. She also allegedly made a hand gesture insinuating that she was going to stab the man, before taking off from the store.
The alleged victim told authorities that he “was in fear that he was going to be stabbed by the defendant.” according to the affidavit.
Wilson was reportedly spotted by officials near 45 NW 5th Avenue before being singled out by Walker. Online records show she is behind bars at Paul Rein Detention Facility in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
