A South Carolina woman is behind bars facing murder charges after she allegedly killed two newborn babies on two different days, then stuffed them into trash receptacles, according to police.
CBS News 13 reports Alyssa Anne Dayvault is facing murder charges stemming from two different incidents involving her newborn infants. According to police, the first occurence happened in November 2017, when Dayvault disposed of a female newborn into the trash at a residence off of David Street in North Myrtle Beach. Police didn’t learn of the incident until a year later, when Dayvault reportedly threw yet another newborn away.
On December 2-3 2018, the suspect allegedly gave birth to another a baby, a boy, who was apparently alive when born and “took multiple gasping breaths” before she disposed of him.
“The defendant stated that the child was born alive and took multiple gasping breaths after having been born. The defendant further stated that she failed to secure medical treatment and did not personally take action to attempt to preserve/save the infant’s life,” the warrant read. “The defendant then disposed of the child’s body in a waste receptacle at her residence in NMB without seeking help or notifying authorities.”
During a December 2018 interview with Myrtle Beach authorities, Dayvault admitted to police that not only did she dispose of the infant boy, but she also threw away her infant girl in 2017.
After learning of of the 2017 incident, authorities obtained medical records from Dayvault’s prenatal visits and determined the baby girl had a healthy heartbeat during Dayvault’s third trimester.
“During the course of the investigation police obtained medical records which indicated that on 11/4/2017 the defendant was in her 3rd trimester of a pregnancy and that the fetus had a healthy heart tone.”
An autopsy on the infant boy is currently underway. Authorities have not found the infant girl’s body.
Dayvault remains behind bars on charges of murder/homicide by child abuse, desecration or removal of human remains, and graves/destruction. Neighbors said Duvault has two other children, ages 6 and 8.
