An Ohio man killed his elderly parents and stuffed their bodies in a car trunk before apparently hanging himself on the property, police said Tuesday.
Doylestown police lieutenant Kevin Milburn said Randall Weekley Jr., 39, was found dead in a shed Monday afternoon after a woman asked police to check on her family. Milburn said they discovered the bodies of the man’s parents, Randall Weekley Sr., 67, and Brenda Weekley, 65, in a car located on the property after recovering a note suggesting they were dead, according to ABC News.
WEWS reported that authorities believe the double-murder suicide occurred sometime between Friday and Saturday. A cause of death for the parents hasn’t been revealed.
“A lot of it has to do with mental health. There have been accusations that we have not been able to confirm with the family or anybody at this point but as far as motive, other than mental health, that’s all we are pointing to at this time,” Milburn said when asked about possible motives, adding that the parents revealed to relatives safety concerns regarding their son.
WOIO reported that officers had visited Weekley Jr. on multiple instances for mental health-related calls. Milburn, who personally knew the family, said it appears the son had moved in with his parents in the past few weeks, according to ABC.
