A Louisiana police officer, who was the recipient of a prestigious award earlier this year, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly having sex with an animal on multiple occasions and filming the crimes.
According to WGNO, a probe was opened by state police in August regarding 38-year-old Terry Yetman, a Bossier City police officer. The investigation, headed by Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit, led to authorities obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s home.
According to the news station, authorities subsequently discovered “pornography involving sex acts with an animal on electronic devices belonging to Yetman.”
Upon finding out there were warrants for his arrest, the suspect reportedly turned himself in.
On October 5, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office recognized the suspected animal abuser on their Facebook page as a recipient of the 2018 Trey Hutchison Award. The department said Yetman and another officer received the award after being recognized for their “outstanding efforts over the past year to champion the protective rights of domestic violence victims and their families.”
Yetman is facing over 40 charges in the case involving performing sexual acts with an animal, and filming sexual acts with an animal. The investigation is ongoing and further charges could surface, according to officials.
The suspect remains behind bars at Bossier Max Correctional Center with bail set at $350,000.
