Patrick Frazee and Kelsey Berreth’s 14-month-old daughter will remain with the missing mother’s family for at least another week as Frazee is in custody on suspicion of murdering his 29-year-old fiancée, who has not been seen since Thanksgiving Day.
The Denver Post reports that Berreth’s maternal grandparents were granted temporary custody of the child on Thursday, as a judge considers long-term custody arrangements for the girl. According to the report, the baby has been with Kelsey’s family since Frazee’s arrest though she is legally in the custody of Teller County Department of Human Services.
Frazee’s mother reportedly filed a motion in the case, but it is not known specifically what she requested. The baby, Kaylee, will reportedly remain with Cheryl Berreth and her family until January 3, when there will be another hearing to determine custody.
Berreth and Frazee are engaged but did not live together. At a press conference announcing his arrest on Friday, authorities said they believed Berreth was no longer alive and that a crime took place at her home in Woodland Park. Frazee is believed to be the last person to see her.
