The mother and sister of a little girl shot to death close to a Houston Walmart on Sunday morning said some of the initial details regarding the suspect’s appearance were incorrect.
ABC reports that 30-year-old LaPorsha Washington’s teen daughter, who was in a car with her mom and sisters when a stranger pulled up and opened fire on them, described the gunman as a “sick” and skinny white man with blue eyes, wearing a black hoodie. Authorities previously reported that the suspect had a beard, but the family’s attorney said the suspect didn’t have a beard and was not wearing glasses.
“He was pale in the face, thin,” Washington added. “And the look in his eyes, he wasn’t normal.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the incident happened early Sunday morning as Washington drove near the Walmart off of the 15400 block of Wallisville. Washington was in the car with her four daughters, ranging in ages from six to 16, when an unknown man pulled up to her car and started shooting. Jazmine was seated in the backseat of the car, directly behind the driver’s seat.
A bullet hit Washington in the arm and also struck two of her children, 6-year-old, Unique, and Jazmine. Washington and Unique are expected to be OK, but Jazmine died almost instantly after a bullet reportedly hit her in the head.
The suspect fled away in a red four-door pickup truck with no license plate.
“I didn’t provoke him in any kind of way,” Washington said. “He finished his clip. He emptied out his gun.”
Investigators are currently analyzing the shell casings found at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, a “Justice for Jazmine” rally is scheduled for Saturday at noon in the Walmart parking lot off of East Beltway. On Tuesday, a public viewing is scheduled at 10 a.m., followed by the little girl’s funeral at noon. The family indicated the funeral will be public and held at the Green House International Church in Houston, located at 200 W. Greens Rd.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
