A high school teacher in Florida was arrested this week on suspicion of maintaining an illegal relationship with a young teen.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, 30-year-old Diego Guzman Carranza was staying with the 14-year-old girl at an Airbnb rental property when authorities came knocking Thursday evening.

The suspect has been identified as a biology teacher at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School in Miami-Dade County near Hallandale Beach.

When Carranza saw officers outside the door, he allegedly answered and asked them if he had done something wrong. At one point, police say he expressed surprise over the girl’s age, the Miami Herald reports.

“F***, is she that young?” he allegedly asked.

Officers called for the girl, alleging she came forward wearing what appeared to be just a white shirt. In her communication with police, she reportedly told them that she had been engaged in a sexual relationship with Carranza and had discussed with him that they were violating the law.

Airbnb has issued a statement acknowledging the incident at a property listed on its app.

“The reported behavior is abhorrent and has no place on Airbnb,” a company spokesperson said. “We have permanently banned this individual from our platform and have reached out to local law enforcement to offer our support.”

Officers arrested him upon a subsequent visit — this time with a search warrant. They reportedly found sex toys and condoms in addition to the suspect’s underwear.

Carranza was arrested and booked into Broward Main Jail, where he remained behind bars with bond set at $50,000 as of the latest updates available.

He is expected to face criminal charges including a felony count of engaging in a lewd or lascivious act with a victim between 12 and 16 years old.
