A Florida woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly posted numerous messages on social media, claiming she had “visions” of carrying out a mass shooting.
Bradenton Herald reports that Brien Basarich, an exotic dancer at the Showgirls Men’s Club in Plant City, is accused of posting mass shooting threats online and praising other mass shooters. While under the alias,“taking-lives,” Basarich wrote she wanted the mass shooting to occur on a busy night in a public place, according to authorities.
“I had a vision… of a very public place, only one way in and one way out. Preferably a bar/club on a busy night. 2019 has a lot in store if my plans go according!”
A Tumblr user reported Basarich on Friday, prompting a police investigation. The suspect allegedly admitted to her posts after police questioned her. She also said she enjoys true crime and learning about serial killers and mass murderers, ABC reports.
Further posts included Basarich stating she wanted the shooting to happen “soonish.” She also reportedly expressed excitement over getting an AR-15 as her first gun.
In another Tumblr post, Basarich expressed her adoration and support for Dylann Roof, a South Carolina man who entered a church in 2015, and shot and killed nine black churchgoers, according to court documents.
Basarich is facing a “making a written threat to kill or injure” charge. She bonded out of Polk County Jail last week.
The story is still developing. Check back with CrimeOnline as additional details become available.
