An arrest has been made in the rape investigation at Hacienda HealthCare, the Arizona nursing facility where a severely incapacitated patient became pregnant and gave birth in December.
As reported by ABC 15, Nathan Sutherland, a nurse at the facility, has been taken into custody after he submitted a DNA sample that implicated him in the rape of the 29-year-old patient. Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams announced the arrest at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
Sutherland, 36, had reportedly been caring for the patient at the time she became pregnant. Authorities said he had been working at Hacienda HealthCare since 2011.
Sutherland is expected to face multiple charges, including sexual assault.
