California authorities are searching for a 6-month-old Culver City baby who reportedly hasn’t been seen in over a month.
ABC 7 reports that infant Jacsun Manson was last seen by witnesses on December 31. The baby was reportedly with his parents, Adam Manson and Kiana Williams, sitting inside a 2006 blue PT Cruiser with a missing bumper, reportedly stolen by the pair.
Authorities arrested the couple on January 3 for car theft. Manson apparently bailed out of jail after he used an alias during his arrest, but authorities arrested him on February 2 once they figured out his true identity.
Police said Manson is also known by Adam Owens and Adam Jackson.
Culver City police Lt. Troy Dunlap said the suspects were caught trying to steal the car from a homeless shelter. They allegedly fled in the car with the baby inside.
“That was actually stolen from the Upward Bound House in our city, and that’s how we’re involved in it because the last known address for Jacsun’s parents were right here in our city,” Dunlap said.
By the time authorities caught up with the couple a few days later, Jacsun was not with them, according to the outlet.
Investigators questioned the pair on their son’s whereabouts but haven’t provided valid information, police said. Dunlap said social services didn’t report the baby missing until January 25.
“Essentially they have not been cooperative. There’s several stories, several incidents where they say Jacsun was, where he should have been, and none of those have worked out for us.”
Dunlap said investigators have been in touch with friends and family members of the couple but still haven’t gotten any credible leads.
“We have contacted family members and friends, and they have been cooperative,” Dunlap said, according to KTLA 5. “But none of the information they have given to us has actually led to the location of Jackson.”
When ABC 7 reached out to the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services to see why it took so long to report Jacsun missing, the agency said it couldn’t divulge any information due to state law.
Witnesses said they saw the couple in the car before their arrest off of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard. The car has not been located.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children described Jacsun as a black male with brown eyes and black hair. He weighed around 20 pounds last time seen, with a height of 1-feet-6-inches.
According to Dunlap, the parents remain in jail without bond on additional charges of contempt of court, after they allegedly failed to tell authorities where their son is. Dunlap indicated that while he is “hoping for the best” in finding Jacsun, he is “preparing for the worst.”
