Authorities in New York City are hoping to identify a woman apparently captured on surveillance footage engaging in a destructive display at a restaurant in the Bronx earlier this year.
According to USA Today, police believe the suspect became upset after an encounter with the staff at the Jamaican-American eatery called Back Home Restaurant.
She allegedly acted out against the business during the recorded incident last month after ordering a meal and learning the kitchen was out of a key ingredient.
“The individual was informed that there were no beef patties in stock at which time the unknown individual became irate,” police alleged in a news statement on Saturday.
Armed with an aluminum baseball bat, the woman allegedly returned and bashed the front door and window of the restaurant.
As the video reveals, she appears to take multiple swings with the bat even as passersby attempt to restrain her.
According to police reports, there were no injuries associated with the outburst. The woman appears to simply walk away after taking out her aggression on the entrance of Back Home Restaurant.
The restaurant owner claims the suspect’s outburst left her with about $2,000 in property damage to address, as reported by Fox News.
“They heard a loud noise … we thought it was gunshots or something like that,” Simone Johnson said. “There was glass shattered everywhere. We’ve been in business for over 20 years and we’ve never seen anything like this. Never.”
Employees described the woman as a regular customer who spoke of her pregnancy and never showed any signs of hostility prior to the January 15 incident.
