A Florida man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly posted sexually-explicit footage online which showed him violating his Siberian Husky while dressed in a dog costume.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Christian Steward Oscar Nichols, 21, on February 11 after discovering the obscene materials while searching his bedroom. Police said their investigation started in late January after a citizen in another state alerted them to photos and videos on the internet, which showed Nichols sexually assaulting the dog.
Police alleged the video showed Nichols—in a black dog’s costume—having inappropriate contact with the Husky using “his penis and multiple penis-shaped sex toys.”
“Detectives say the dog in the video was clearly in distress. At one point during the video, the dog tries to run away and the man responds by striking the dog with a sex toy,” law enforcement said in a statement.
Detectives reportedly traced the photos and video back to Nichols, who admitted to the crimes before his arrest Monday. He was initially charged with aggravated animal cruelty. On Tuesday, police updated their statement to reflect that the Oldsmar man is facing 10 additional counts of prohibition of certain acts in connection with obscene materials.
Citing court records, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Nichols remains jailed on $5,000 bail.
