A former Georgia detention officer is behind bars after he allegedly raped and abused a woman while holding her against her will in her own home, according to authorities.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 28-year-old Kirk Taylor Martin is facing numerous felony charges in connection with the sexual assault and abuse of a woman that reportedly lasted from Thursday evning until Friday morning. The incident occurred at the victim’s home in Murray County, police said.
At some point during the early morning of March 8, the victim got in contact with someone who contacted authorities for help. Investigators arrested Martin shortly after.
Martin, a former detention officer at the Murray County jail, is accused of aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, false imprisonment, criminal attempt to commit sodomy, and obstructing an emergency call. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is handling the case since Murray formerly worked for the sheriff’s office.
A mugshot of the suspect showed the victim apparently fought back. He had scratches on his face, chest, neck, and shoulders.
