A German couple is behind bars after police say they brutally assaulted their baby son to the point he needed an artificial anus and emergency surgery.
DailyMail reports that Nina R., 26, is accused of inflicting severe injuries on her baby in order to get “sexual satisfaction,” according to Chief prosecutor Hubert Stroeber. The baby’s father, Ismail S., 23, also stands accused of abusing the boy and causing a “bloody wound” to the infant’s private parts. The abuse took place at the couple’s home in Ludwigshafen when the infant was six weeks old.
The couple eventually took the baby to the hospital after his injuries became grave. He was diagnosed with peritonitis, meaning inflammation and/or rupture of the abdomen. Physicians also found that the boy’s anus was damaged to the point that he required emergency surgery.
Further, the infant reportedly had fractured ribs, a skull injury, eye bleeding, and lung and heart bruising, according to police.
“Even professionals in my public prosecutor’s office were shocked,” Stroeber said, according to the outlet.
Friends and family members claimed that Nina, a sales person, showed signs of being cruel when she was a child. She’s accused of killing and torturing guinea pigs, the outlet reported.
The baby, now a 7-month-old, is in the care of a foster family.
Both Nina and Ismail were arrested in November and remain behind bars awaiting trial. Check back with CrimeOnline as additional details become available.
