Federal investigators are reportedly in possession of an audio recording in which R. Kelly’s teen girlfriend apparently claims the singer forced her to lie about their sexual relationship to her parents, threatening to cut her off financially.
The Blast reports that Joycelyn Savage was recorded telling her voice coach that Kelly was angry that she told her parents about their relationship. Savage reportedly also said Kelly told her to send him a text message saying, “I lied about me and you having sex,” apparently to cover his tracks.
“I told him what was going on. He can’t trust me…I have to gain his trust back because he really likes me a lot,” Savage is allegedly heard telling the voice coach.
According to the tabloid, Savage went on to say that Kelly possibly gave her herpes and that she feared her father would find out about it. The voice coach can be heard pleading with Savage to reconsider her relationship with Kelly throughout the recording.
“At the end of the day you’re trying to gain R. Kelly’s trust but what about your loyalty to your family or your father? They’re the ones that’s gonna be by your side at the end of the day, R. Kelly don’t give a f**k,” the coach says.
Sources told The Blast that the audio was turned over to federal authorities as Kelly faces 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in Illinois.
In 2015, Kelly reportedly flew Savage out to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a so-called private audition, claiming he wanted to mentor the aspiring singer, who is believed to have been 19 years old at the time. Since then, Savage’s parents have accused Kelly, now 52, of brainwashing the now-23-year-old and holding her against her will.
Earlier this month, Savage and Azriel Clary, 21, Kelly’s live-in girlfriends, accused their families of making false allegations against Kelly as part of an extortion plot.
In an interview with Gayle King that aired on CBS, Savage said, “Our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam because they didn’t agree on music or whatever it could be and they’re very upset.”
