The creator of a popular YouTube channel is facing numerous charges after her biological daughter alerted authorities about alleged abuse in her home.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Machelle Hackney, the creator of the “Fantastic Adventures” YouTube channel, was arrested on charges of abuse and false imprisonment following allegations that she confined, starved, and tortured seven adopted children, allegedly demanding that they perform in videos for the YouTube channel, which had nearly 800,000 subscribers when YouTube deactivated it on Wednesday.
According to an ABC 15 report, there may have been earlier warning signs that something was not right in Hackney’s Maricopa, Arizona, home. The news station obtained court documents from 2011 showing that Hackney’s ex-husband said she had pulled her daughter from school in order to stay home and help take care of the children, which she fostered before formally adopting them.
And police told the news station that they responded to a report in 2017 of a child running naked through the neighborhood. Authorities did not provide further details about the incident.
Hackney has reportedly denied the accusations, saying that she disciplined her children only with spankings. According to ABC 15, the seven children are now in the custody of the Department of Child Safety.
