A 65-year-old grandmother slugged a half naked allegede car burglar on Sunday morning, after the man reportedly tried to break in her car.
“I took that bat and hit him upside the head like ‘pi-yah!’ He said ‘Ow!'” Clarese Gainey explained to Gainesville’s CBS 4 News.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Antonio Mosley, is accused of breaking into Gainey’s car on Sunday morning, outside of an apartment complex in Gainesville. Gainey said she spotted an overweight man wearing only boxers trying to open her car door while hitting the car window.
Gainey said the man spotted her and charged at her, but she picked up her bat and swung at him, landing a shot on the side of his head. Mosley, apparently wanting no part of the slugger grandmother, fled to a nearby mobile park before she could hit him again. A K-9 unit tracked him down and found him inside one of the mobile homes.
Police said the suspect had on a pair of pants when they found him, and and had cocaine in his possession. He was arrested and charged with attempted burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
“He better be glad I didn’t have a gun. Because I would have shot him. But this is my gun right here,” Gainey told the outlet while holding her bat.
