Police in New York say they have a suspect in custody after a startling attack left one woman dead and another seriously injured at a Brooklyn apartment last week.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, an injured woman told an Uber driver to take her to the hospital. Upon noticing she was heavily bleeding, the driver called 911.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a woman’s body in an eighth-floor apartment where the other victim, 21-year-old Angela Valle, said they would find her and a young child.
The 4-year-old was identified as Valle’s daughter and was not physically harmed, police reported.
The deceased victim has been identified as 20-year-old Savannah Rivera, according to WFSB.
Investigators focused on 34-year-old Jerry Brown as a suspect and the New York Police Department confirmed on Sunday that he had been arrested. He was reportedly transported to an area hospital, where he remained in police custody as of the latest updates available.
Brown, who allegedly slaughtered Rivera with an ax, was identified by the New York Post as Valle’s ex-boyfriend. The suspect is believed to have also had some type of relationship with the other victim.
He is expected to face charges including counts of murder and attempted murder.
Valle was reportedly transported to the hospital from the scene was initially listed in critical but stable condition with severe head trauma.
