A Washington man accused of stabbing his estranged wife and abducting his own young son in an Amber Alert announced this week is barricaded inside of a home in St. John as of the latest updates available.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, 5-year-old Ethan Robertson was found safe after 41-year-old Justin Robertson allegedly broke into Melissa Robertson’s home in Spokane Valley on Tuesday.
Police believe he stabbed the woman multiple times and fled with their son, who was later found alive, though additional details were not immediately available.
According to KHQ, the suspect has since taken refuge in a home as officers attempt to negotiate with him.
Justin Robertson has reportedly refused requests to surrender and officials say they are attempting to put an end to the standoff as soon as possible. In the meantime, police encourage locals to stay away from the community if possible.
Melissa Robertson was reportedly undergoing treatment at Sacred Heart Medical Center for injuries not believed to be life threatening.
She had twice previously filed for an order of protection against the suspect, as reported by KREM.
In December, she cited “possible physical harm, injury or death” to either her or Ethan when obtaining an order in Spokane County Superior Court.
About three months later, court documents show Melissa Robertson filed for a similar order in fear of “physical, mental and emotional abuse, and possibly death.”
