Police in Pakistan have identified three suspects who they believe abducted and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy who is visiting the country from the United States.
DAWN reported that the victim is a Pakistani-American dual national who came to Pakistan a year-and-a-half ago to study. The main suspect is reportedly a 12th-grade student who attends the same school as the victim; the student, and two of his friends, allegedly assaulted the victim after taking him for ice cream.
Citing a report filed by the victim on April 25, DAWN reported that, after leaving the ice cream shop, the trio took him to a car in a parking lot and tried to attack him. He attempted to make noise but the suspects allegedly covered his mouth with a cloth. He said the boys then drove him to an abandoned area and took turns assaulting him while holding a pistol to his head.
The victim went on to recall how one of the suspects filmed the assault and forwarded it to other people. The main suspect was accused of sending the video to the victim to coerce him into another meeting. The victim’s said to have contacted police instead.
Rawalpindi police said they’ve arrested two of the suspects and are currently seeking the third. Authorities said they’re in the process of questioning the apprehended suspects about the April 18 assault.
DSP Cantt Sardar Babar Mumtaz told the news outlet that the victim has undergone a medical examination. In light of the assault, he’s reportedly traveling back to the States to be with his parents.
