Authorities in New Jersey say a man believed to have been under the influence of narcotics was roaming the streets of Atlantic City without any clothes and obviously bleeding.
According to the New York Post, 28-year-old Stephon Whitfield is accused of jumping in front of a woman pushing a stroller and pushing the young child riding inside. The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday near Caspian Avenue.
From there, the naked man allegedly attempted to force his way into a nearby vehicle to steal cash from inside. Police say Whitfield then made his way to an apartment complex and knocked on a resident’s door in an effort to be let into the unit.
Officers caught up with him a short time later and placed him in custody. He is expected to face criminal charges including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.
A mugshot photo reveals his face swollen from an apparent bloody injury.
Court records indicate he has previously been arrested for theft, contempt and obstruction.
The 9-month-old child inside the stroller during the alleged attack was reportedly transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with injuries officials did not believe to be life threatening, according to NJ.com.
