A Nevada woman is facing murder charges for allegedly fatally pushing an elderly man off a bus after he asked her to “be nicer to other passengers.”
According to KSNV, Serge Fournier, 74, made the comment to Cadesha Bishop, 25, after overhearing her swearing at other passengers on a Las Vegas bus on March 21. Bishop allegedly pushed Fournier as he exited the bus with his walker—causing him to fall and land on his head.
Citing the arrest report, People magazine reported that Bishop used both hands to push Fournier “with enough force that he never touched any of the steps” before he crashed into the concrete sidewalk. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the same report stated that “his head landed approximately eight feet from the bus doorway.”
Police alleged that Bishop walked away with her son and didn’t attempt to help Fournier. People reported that officers arrived to find Fournier bleeding from his head.
Fournier died on April 23, a month after suffering the fall. The Clark County Coroner’s Office determined his death was caused by blunt force torso injuries related to the push and ruled it a homicide, according to the Review-Journal.
KSNV reported detectives identified Bishop through bus surveillance footage, resulting in her arrest this week. The father of Bishop’s son reportedly described her as violent and said it’s the reason they’re no longer together. Further, court records obtained by the Review-Journal stated that Bishop had pleaded guilty twice to misdemeanor domestic violence, in 2012 and 2013.
Bishop was arrested Monday and charged with the murder of an older person. She remains jailed on $100,000 bail pending a May 21 court hearing.
