Police in Arizona arrested a 70-year-old man who was discovered driving with his dead wife in the passenger seat of his car.

Citing a press release from Elroy Police, AZCentral.com reports that Rodney Puckett was pulled over on Interstate 10 when the officer saw a dead woman, since identified as the suspect’s wife 74-year-old Linda Puckett, sitting in the passenger seat.

Puckett reportedly told police that Linda had died while the couple was staying at a hotel in Texas, a stop on a road trip. And rather than contact authorities, Puckett reportedly chose to continue the trip with his wife’s dead body.

“He moved her body into their vehicle, continuing towards their destination,” Elroy police reportedly said in the release.

Puckett was arrested and charged with abandonment or concealment of a body, but may face additional charges as authorities in Texas and Arizona reportedly work to determine Linda Puckett’s cause of death, and investigate the possibility she was a homicide victim.

The deceased woman’s body has been turned over to the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the report.

Rodney Puckett is reportedly in custody at the Pinal County Jail.
