Authorities in California have arrested a man who was allegedly filmed earlier this month violently robbing a woman in front of her young daughter.
Pablo Cabrera Jr., 26, is believed to have been the man snatching a mother’s purse and dragging her and her daughter down a flight of stairs outside a San Jose office building on May 6. ABC News reported that he’s since been linked to other purse snatchings—with authorities claiming all his victims were Asian women toting expensive bags.
Surveillance footage apparently shows Cabrera dragging the mother and daughter as the mother holds her daughter’s hand and her purse. The pair reportedly sustained minor injuries in the May 6 incident.
The Mercury News reported that Cabrera is a parolee who has a prior burglary conviction. Police said a search of his home produced stolen items involved in other robberies. A black four-door sedan spotted leaving the scene on May 6 was linked to other purse snatchings Cabrera committed, they also alleged.
Cabrera was arrested Saturday and charged with suspicion of robbery and a parole violation. He remains jailed without bail.
“This was very brazen and very cowardly,” San Jose police Chief Eddie Garcia said. “In the video, how violent he was, with no care of the child, it resonated with all of us. We’re happy to get him off the street.”
