The family of a pregnant Chicago woman who was murdered last month has shared photos from her visitation on social media.
Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, 19, was allegedly murdered on April 23 when she was lured to a Chicago home on the promise of getting baby supplies. When there, a 43-year-old woman, helped by her daughter, allegedly distracted Ochoa-Lopez with a photo album of the suspect’s dead son and strangled her before cutting the baby boy from her womb.
Clarissa Figeuroa and her daughter Desiree Figueroa have since been charged with Ochoa-Lopez’s murder. The victim is believed to have met Clarisa on a Facebook group for expectant mothers. The elder suspect reportedly claimed she had given birth to Ochoa-Lopez’s baby, who was taken to the hospital in distress on April 23.
The baby boy was hospitalized in grave condition, and reportedly remains on life support. But according to ABC 7 Chicago, doctors have said that the baby’s brain activity has improved.
The news outlet also reports that Ochoa-Lopez’s family held a wake for her on Thursday and Friday, and her funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning at the Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Ochoa-Lopez’s mother shared a video and photos from the visitation service on Facebook.
