Authorities in Virginia say one person is dead and nine others injured in a mass shooting at a residential party late Saturday evening.
According to Fox News, the gunfire began shortly before 10 p.m. at a location in the Holly Cove neighborhood of Chesapeake.
A spokesperson for the Chesapeake Police Department provided scant initial details aside from the number of victims. Leo Kosinski confirmed one of those shot had since died.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital indicated through a spokesperson that eight male patients had been admitted with gunshot wounds.
An investigation into the shooting reportedly remains ongoing with investigators advising that a cash reward is available for a tip that results in an arrest.
Law enforcement first became aware of the situation after receiving reports from witnesses in the area who described individuals refusing to move their vehicles and causing a traffic jam.
At around the same time, local emergency medical personnel were en route to the same location in response to calls regarding shots fired in the area, as reported by WAVY.
The deceased victim had not been publicly named as of the latest updates available, but officials provided a description of an adult male.
As WVEC reported, those with information are asked to contact Crime Line by calling 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
