After a string of reported deaths and illnesses linked to the same resort in the Dominican Republic, one Maryland woman is looking for answers following her husband’s death during a 2018 visit to Punta Cana.
The anniversary vacation took David Harrison, Dawn McCoy, and their son to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where McCoy said her husband became violently ill and died a short time later of a heart attack and pulmonary edema. As CrimeOnline previously reported, the deaths of all three Americans at the Grand Bahia Principe resort in recent days were initially linked to the same factors.
“I started seeing all these other people that were dying of the same exact causes, which made me start to second guess,” McCoy told WTOP.
She recalled Harrison waking up from his sleep apparently disoriented and covered in sweat, noting that “all he could do was mumble.”
Despite contacting medical staff at the resort, he died a short time later.
“We went down there as a happy family, and we came home a broken family,” McCoy said. “I came home a widow and my 12-year-old son came home fatherless.”
While she initially had no reason to suspect foul play, the woman has new suspicions in light of the recent incidents.
“I no longer feel like my husband died of natural causes,” she said.
A Colorado couple also came forward in recent days to describe a violent illness they both experienced while staying at the Grand Bahia Principe last year, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
