Authorities in Louisiana say a fellow law enforcement officer was fired and faces serious and unsettling criminal allegations related to the recorded sexual abuse of a 1-year-old child.
According to WAFB, Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Shardrick Jones is accused of coercing a woman to rape her own son.
St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau announced the arrest in a press conference after the agency allegedly received video evidence of the abuse on Friday evening.
Jones allegedly coaxed the mother, 26-year-old Iyehesa Todd, to perform the unthinkable act by preying on her fear of going to jail on an outstanding traffic warrant.
“I’ve never seen anything so sickening and disgusting in my own life,” Ambeau said of the allegations.
Following his arrest, Jones was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail and is expected to face criminal charges of principle to rape in the first degree and possessing child pornography.
Todd has also reportedly been arrested on suspicion of incest and rape in the first degree and was booked into jail in Iberville Parish.
Ambeau indicated the child has been placed in the custody of his grandmother. The case against both suspects is now being handled by the district attorney’s office.
