A Florida teacher is behind bars after police say she stabbed her husband “multiple times” during a domestic dispute.
NBC 7 reports that 43-year-old Kristy Linton Williams is accused of stabbing her husband on his arms, back, and chest. According to police, the couple apparently got into an argument on early Monday morning at the Laketown Wharf Resort condominiums in Panama City.
The victim has non-life threatening injuries and is recovering at the Bay Medical hospital. According to Panama City News Herald, the victim identified his wife, Williams, as the attacker.
Williams is a 2nd-grade teacher at Hutchison Beach Elementary School. Bay District Schools Superintendent Bill Husfelt released a statement after learning of the incident, indicating that Williams has been suspended with pay while authorities continue to investigate the incident.
“We hold our educators to the highest of standards, professionally and personally, and so news of the arrest of an employee is very disheartening. In this situation, as in all others, the employee is suspended with pay (per the union contract) while the investigation continues.”
According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Williams is facing a felony charge of aggravated domestic battery. She’s behind bars at the Bay County Jail, awaiting her first court appearance.
