A former teacher in Arizona confessed Monday to having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 13-year-old male student.
People accessed online court records stating that Brittany Zamora, 28, pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child, and public sexual indecency. The ex-Las Brisas Academy instructor was arrested in March 2018, after the victim revealed the illicit relationship to his stepmother.
According to the magazine, the stepmother learned of the relationship after installing a parental-monitoring app on the teen’s phone and discovering inappropriate texts between the pair.
“If I could quit my job and [have sex with] you all day long, I would,” one of the texts from Zamora reportedly read.
In addition to the texts, court records obtained by the Arizona Republic stated they sexually touched one another in the back of a classroom and had sex multiple times in Zamora’s car and classroom—including one instance where Zamora asked another male student, a friend of the victim, to be the lookout.
“They were just doing it,” the friend reportedly told police. “It was very uncomfortable.”
By accepting a plea deal, 12 criminal counts against Zamora were dismissed. The plea deal bars Zamora from having contact with the victim and requires her to register as a sex offender, according to the news outlet.
The Republic reported that the ex-teacher faces a maximum of 43.5 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 12.
