A former substitute school nurse in Ohio has admitted to having a sexual encounter with a male student at a hotel last summer.
WCPO reported that Delena Clever, 48, will spend 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual imposition. Clever, who was a nurse for two local school districts, made sexual advances toward the victim at a Deerfield Township hotel before offering him alcohol and marijuana.
Clever had texted the student and asked him to drive her around because she was intoxicated. After declining her advances at the hotel, Clever inappropriately touched the student while driving back, according to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.
“Clever is lucky that the underage student ultimately rebuffed her sexual advances, otherwise she would find herself in a prison cell instead of spending local time in the county jail,” the prosecutor said in a statement issued to the news station.
Clever worked for Little Miami Schools and the Kings Local School district during the 2018 school year. The Journal-News reported that her personnel file didn’t contain any reports of misbehavior, including inappropriate conduct towards students or staff.
Sentenced Monday, Clever will be required to register as a sex offender.
